چکیده

This paper describes how to evaluate the performance of dexterity measures by investigating the properties of the inverse kinematic algorithms. These algorithms use redundancy to optimize the dexterity measure under the constraint of following a specified end-effector trajectory. To facilitate the investigation, a concept of the construint locus is proposed. The constraint locus is the loci of configurations satisfying the necessary conditions for optimality of a dexterity measure in the configuration space. The topological properties of the inverse kinematic algorithm both on the configuration and operation spaces define the invertible workspace without singularities. Using the global properties of two dexterity measures, we provide a promising algorithm which provides a singular-free and conservative joint trajectory for tasks occupying almost the entire workspace.

Maximum Allowable Dynamic Load of Flexible 2-Link Mobile Manipulators Using Finite Element Approach

In this paper a general formulation for finding the maximum allowable dynamic load (MADL) of flexible link mobile manipulators is presented. The main constraints used for the algorithm presented are the actuator torque capacity and the limited error bound for the end-effector during motion on the given trajectory. The precision constraint is taken into account with two boundary lines in plane w...

Trajectory Control of a 3-link Planar Manipulator using Virtual Link Based Controller

A hyper-redundant manipulator has the advantage that it can be used in constraint space; however the control of hyper-redundant manipulator is difficult. This paper presents a concept of virtual link based two degrees of freedom (DOF) controller. With the proposed controller, manipulator of any number of links can be reduced to either a 2-link virtual manipulator or one real and one virtual lin...

Exterity of Underactuated Manipulators

The dexterity of a manipulator with passive joints, also known as an underactuated manipulator, differs from the dexterity of a fully actuated one, even if their mechanical structures are identical. Therefore, for fault tolerance and energy saving purposes, it is important to study the dexterity of underactuated manipulators. The purpose of this work is to quantify the dexterity of underactuate...

Dexterity Optimization of Kinematically Redundant Manipulators in the Presence of Joint Failures

Robotic manipulators working in remote or hazardous environments require additional measures to ensure their usability upon the failure of an actuator. This work considers failure modes that result in an immobilized joint and uses the concept of worst-case dexterity to deene kinematic and dynamic fault tolerance measures for redundant manipulators. These measures are then used to specify the op...
